In a heartwarming new article at the Marco Island Sun Times website, Smallville fan Jerry Masters recounts his meeting with Tom late last year, during filming of 'Unsafe' at the University of Vancouver hockey arena. Initially only intending to watch the filming, Jerry and his wife Mary Helen were "totally surprised" when Tom walked up to them in the concession area.

"The fact that he would take the time to say hello and talk to us was incredible. Once the initial shock wore off, Mary Helen took our picture together."

Unfortunately there isn't any news to report today, nor has there been any for the past week or two; I was hoping Tom might have been at The WB's TCA Winter Press Tour Party last night, but sadly that wasn't to be. Similarly, whereas Michael Rosenbaum will be making the rounds next week to promote Smallville's first new episode of 2005, 'Unsafe', Tom once again seems to be noticeably absent - Tom hasn't made any talk show appearances since December 2003! The wait continues.

Nevertheless, new episodes are just around the corner: 'Unsafe' airs on Wednesday, January 26th at 8:00pm.

I'm still working on some alterations to the site – as I have been for months – but lately I've been feeling pretty lazy so the changes are happening very slowly. I also have a number of pieces of fan art and other content to add to the site, and I apologise to everyone who's sent me something that has yet to be uploaded.

As always, if you have anything to send to me (be it art, news, or just a note to say "hi") please don't hesitate to contact me - and speaking of contact, I'd just like to remind everyone that I'm not Tom Welling, and I cannot forward your messages to him. Please don't use the contact page to send messages that just waste my and your own time. It's not that I don't enjoy reading messages in which somebody says "I love you!" It would just be nicer if they were being read by the intended recipient ...

I know, I said I wouldn't have time to cover news about both Tom and Mark - what can I say, I'm notoriously fickle. Plus, that was before I'd seen the teaser for his debut movie and realised just how talented he is.

Interestingly there's also an incredible family resemblance between he and Tom that's far more apparent in the teaser trailer for Wrestling than it was in the still photos.

Over the past few weeks TV Guide Channel (much like many other channels) has been airing its end-of-year specials, and a number of those have featured short interviews with the stars of Smallville. Most notably, TV Guide Close Up recently gave an in-depth exploration of the show; the featured interviews were from as early as the summer of 2001, before Smallville's premiere.

With many thanks to Tigress35, I've been able to put together a compilation of clips from those specials. As always the video is in Apple's MOV format, so you will require a copy of Quicktime Player to view it.

The new January/February issue (n°31) of the popular French magazine, Series Mag, contains a brief composite "interview" with Tom, along with the image to your left from late in his modelling career; it's an image that you may have seen before, but it's still a good one! The magazine is always a great addition to any Smallville/Tom Welling collection, so it's well worth picking up a copy if you can.
