I Hope Tom Isn't Choked by The Fog

Sat February 19th 2005 @ 5:07PM - James - Tom Welling - 9 Comments

Right on time, I'm back from my little trip - and the rumour is true!

Tom has been cast as the lead role, that of Nick Castle (at least that was the character's name in the original movie), in Columbia's upcoming remake of John Carpenter's The Fog; the film will be made by Revolution Studios. Cast alongside Tom is Maggie Grace, one of the stars of ABC's Lost.

You can read the whole movie report over at The Hollywood Reporter.

Finally I approve of one of Tom's film choices; I was beginning to wonder if I ever would!

Heading Out of Town ...

I'm probably going to be away from my computer for the next few days, so if any news breaks I obviously won't be able to report it; in the meantime please check out KryptonSite - Craig's news page is always up to date.

Who knows, there may even be an official press release about The Fog within the next 48 hours. Hopefully I'll have some good news to come back to!

Tom to Appear in The Fog?

Thu February 17th 2005 @ 8:38AM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments

An unconfirmed report from Fox News suggests that Tom may have been cast in one of the lead roles of Columbia's remake of the 1980 John Carpenter film, The Fog. The movie, about a ghostly "fog" that attacks the community of a small, remote town, is set to be directed by Rupert Wainwright (Stigmata), and will begin filming in March.

A further rumour at this point is that Tom's role will be that of Nick Castle, a character protrayed by a fellow Tom, Tom Atkins, in the original.

Please bear in mind that this isn't confirmed yet; hopefully there will be some confirmation – or debunking – soon.

Random Ranting at The WB

Tue February 15th 2005 @ 6:38PM - James - Tom Welling - 1 Comment

Once again Tom is featured at TheWB.com in their "Random Rant" section; in this installment he waxes lyrical on his favourite episode (it's still the Pilot) of Smallville, the changing dynamics of the show and his character, and the way in which the show has changed through the seasons; as an aside, it doesn't sound like Tom is completely happy with all of those changes.

Head over to watch Tom's "Random Rant".

Tom Mentioned Briefly in Two Fun Articles

Mon February 14th 2005 @ 1:52PM - James - Tom Welling - 0 Comments

In an article from yesterday's online edition of the Boston Herald, writer Sarah Rodman discussed her crusade to bring back a once-popular show from the '70s and '80s, The Battle Of The Network Stars. In trying to drum up support, Sarah spoke with the president of the WB, David Janollari, who stated that he already knows who he would choose as his team captain:

"Why, Tom Welling, because he's Superman!"

I can't disagree with that choice. To read what the other network's had to say about the idea, head over to The Edge at BostonHerald.com. It's unlikely that this show will ever happen, but it's a fun idea nonetheless.

In yet another article, this time from Cordova's edition of The Commercial Appeal, a number of students from the Briarcrest Christian School were asked to share their idea of a perfect date for Valentine's Day. Among the celebrities whose names were dropped was a certain Tom Welling; 11th grade student Kayla Berry wanted to spend the day:

"Going rock climbing and hiking, and then eating at Taco Bell."

Rock climbing sounds far too much like hard work - poor Tom never gets any rest! To read what the other students had to say you can read the whole article.
